The EISIC Conferences just concluded, and now, relaxing at the pool from the hotel gives me the chance to recap the interesting and not so interesting projects, tools and people in this event.
If your work or interest area dosnt fit in data intelligence, data mining, web and social media mining, criminology or OSINT (Open Source Intelligence), then perhaps this congress has nothing to offer for you.
For me, the most interesting part was the OSINT block of presentations and some of the techniques and algorithms used by intelligence agencies to monitor and identify criminals and terrorists through the use of web mining and social media data analysis.
One of my favourites was Joe Parry's presentation about best practices in data visualization, including some opensource tools like Ushahidi, a framework that simplify displaying data in Google Maps.
I will be posting some links to the projects from this conference in a later post.
